Poly-phasic sleep.
July 6th 2007 14:03
I became familiar with the concept of poly-phasic sleep through reading a chapter of The Game. My friend has tried it to limited success. However, there are other people who have tried and succeeded with it over long periods of time.
Polyphasic (AKA Da Vinci or Uberman) sleep is effectively a process of sleeping only 2 -5 hours’ daily through use of interspersed naps. To do this you have to basically ween yourself into it – at first you’ll keep falling asleep when you’re meant to be awake, but eventually you’ll adapt and viola! Super new always awake you!
My friend Solace (ever a Style fan) gave it a shot. His results were fairly unimpressive. Slowly kinda sort of maybe a little bit adapted into the regime. Sort of kind of did it for a while, then gave it up because it wasn’t fitting in with his lifestyle. When I say he’s a Style fan, I mean that Pick Up Artist Style from the Book ‘The Game’ tried this same sleep pattern. After much nonsense including hitting each other with brooms, Style and a friend give up on the sleep pattern.
With the only two examples we’ve seen, why should one hold anything but skepticism about this ‘sleep pattern’?
Because, dear reader, the feedback on the sleeping pattern is not exclusively of failure. Author Claudio Stampi has written books detailing his support (and advice) for polyphase sleep. He is one of many who have claimed to have had success with the system.
The verdict? It might work. Might. Just gotta give it a shot and see how you go.

I've never heard of this sleep approach. It sounds like it could work for people with flexible work hours or who work from home. It's a very interesting idea but I think I'll keep my sleeping to nights apart from the occasional delightful weekend afternoon nap.

I was calling it insomnia all of this time; hmmm.. I've been doing this for years and have undergone weeks of therapy to break the habit, it didn't happen. So, I was on to something the whole time; great!
Wow, I've been reintroduced into the world of normality.

Tracy - think you hit it - It's good for those who can do it, but the logistics fail the real world.
