Five awesome counter cultural celebrations.

1. Burning Man. My friend is going to this without me, and I can’t even try to count the shades of jealously plaguing me. Burning Man is a crazy festival, in the middle of the Nevada Desert. For all but two weeks of the year, the location of burning man is a vast, inhospitable landscape of sand and… sand. However, for those two blissful freedom filled weeks, that land is inhabited by a community of crazy freaks, hippies, trippers, ravers and just awesomely open, uninhibited people.
2. Woodford Folk Festival. I honestly don’t have a lot to say about this yet… but the awesome news is I’M GOING!
3. International no Pants Day. Pretty much self explanatory.
4. International Talk Like a Pirate day. Arrrr… this be the day when friend and foe unite on yonder ship, and be speakin’ like a pirate matey… curse the scurvy dogs who claim it silly, ARRRRGH!!!
5. International Buy Nothing Day. This is a celebration started by the Adbusters Media Foundation. It’s a day to reject consumer culture in favour of living without dead time, and to ‘buy less, live more.’

..and what would a pirate be needin' with more things when he has the treasure of freedom..?

I hope you have a ball at Woodford... it is great, especially late afternoon to late night! Take some sun guard and areoguard though..[and ear plugs if you're slepping overnight] ha ha
